Our Story

Founded in Khon Kaen, rooted in care

Nakhon Counsel opened its doors in Mueang district with a single purpose: to offer families navigating inheritance matters a place where they could be heard, without pressure and without rush. The practice was built around the observation that legal processes following a death are often handled too quickly, leaving families uncertain and, at times, at odds with one another.

Our founder spent a number of years observing how estate disputes in Isan families frequently arose not from bad intent, but from a lack of clear, early guidance. The absence of calm, plain-language advice at the right moment too often allowed small misunderstandings to grow into lengthy disputes. Nakhon Counsel was set up to fill that gap.

Today, the practice handles three core areas of inheritance law — initial estate review consultations, managed estate settlement, and contested inheritance representation. Each service is scoped clearly and priced transparently, so clients always know what they are engaging and what it will cost.

We work with families from across Thailand, with a particular focus on estates involving property in the Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, and wider northeastern region. We are familiar with the Land Department offices, local district courts, and the Thai Civil and Commercial Code provisions that govern intestate succession and will administration.

Our Mission

"To help families settle estates with clarity and without conflict — at a pace that respects the weight of the moment."

Patience. We never press clients toward decisions before they are ready.

Clarity. Plain-language explanations at every stage — no unnecessary jargon.

Discretion. Complete confidentiality from first contact to final resolution.

Fairness. Transparent, fixed fees with no unexpected additions.

Inheritance Law in Thailand

What we know and how we work

Inheritance law in Thailand is governed primarily by Book VI of the Thai Civil and Commercial Code, which sets out the rules for intestate succession, the administration of estates, and the rights of statutory heirs. Where a valid will exists, the code governs its execution alongside the provisions of the Will Act. Where no will exists, the code's succession order applies across six classes of heir.

Estate administration in Thailand typically involves the appointment of an estate administrator by the relevant provincial court, the identification and valuation of estate assets, settlement of debts and liabilities, and ultimate distribution to heirs. Where real property is included — which is common in the northeastern region — the Land Department transfer process adds a further procedural layer that requires careful handling.

Contested estates arise in a range of circumstances: where the validity of a will is disputed, where the identity or entitlement of heirs is in question, or where an estate administrator is alleged to have acted improperly. These matters require careful file management, an understanding of civil procedure, and, above all, a calm approach that keeps resolution as the objective at all times.

Nakhon Counsel has handled estates involving residential property, agricultural land, business interests, and financial assets. The practice's experience in Khon Kaen provincial court and surrounding district courts means clients benefit from familiarity with local procedures and the relationships that make administration smoother.
